What happens to the clothes after the event?
First and foremost, the clothing donations are distributed free of charge to clients in our emergency shelter, or to those who simply cannot pay. Clothing donations are also resold in our Mission Thrift Store, one of the largest retail outlets in the City of Trenton, at very affordable prices. Lastly, whatever cannot be resold or distributed is sold in bulk and the proceeds go back to the continued operations of our social service programs.

About the Rescue Mission
Since 1915, the Mission has been there for those who are struggling and have no place else to turn. We provide a safe haven for the homeless, the hungry, the transient and the addicted – a place where those who are hurting are treated with respect and dignity no matter how many times they’ve fallen down. We provide the basics – food, clothing and shelter (emergency, transitional, rooming and boarding house and permanent supportive housing).
This past year we provided 127,978 meals, 57,377 bed nights of emergency shelter, 25,756 days in residential treatment, and 4,531 days in rooming/board house, 6,242 days in permanent housing and free clothing and furniture on 6,676 occasions.
At the Mission, we work hard to reduce our dependency on government by generating a significant portion of our revenue from entrepreneurial activities such as the salvage and resale of clothing. The Mission store sells the clothing to the community at discounted prices.
